Srinagar April. 26 (KNO) : Stating that Congress Party is watching the indifferent attitude of ruling dispensation about the wellbeing and genuine concerns of poor and backward classes in the State, The J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G.A. Mir today hit out at State Govt for adopting lackadaisical attitude towards the people living in far off places especially backward classes, saying that people were being denied their basic rights inorder to benefit blue eyed and ruling Party workers under the garb of implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes, which are being misused terribly.

During his extensive tour of upper reaches of Dooru Shahbad in District Anantnag, G.A. Mir reached out to disconnected ST people to get to know the multiple problems and hardships confronting them due to the inhuman attitude adopted by the Govt towards the poor and backward classes especially Schedule Tribes. G.A. Mir, during his tour, observed that people were confronted with difficult situation in every respect, for the fact, the State Govt has miserably failed to mitigate their sufferings, saying that various Centrally Sponsored Schemes rather than benefitting people especially poor and backward classes were being misused to benefit ruling political class and their blue eyed professional contractors.

He said Congress Party is watching the developments and anti-people policies adopted by the Govt. He expressed serious concern over the dilapidated condition of roads, lack of medical facilities, no development in upper reaches, no road connectivity at various places etc, which has made the lives of people impossible. G.A. Mir visited Halsidar, Trujan, Nowgam Nard, Saskhudan, Naginad, Hinjipora, Kapran, Yakadbora and other far off places in Dooru Shahbad, where he was briefed by the people about their hardships and told him they were being denied their basic rights, in every respect.

The people also told the him (G.A. Mir) that the developmental works were being allotted to professional contractors, and ruling Party workers, whileas the common people and job card holders entitled for the works were being ignored, as a result, they were not even able to earn their livelihood, which is not only a great injustice to them, but highly condemnable act on the part of Ruling Party. He also observed that MANREGA scheme directly benefitting people at grass root level was also being misused terribly, poor people who deserved to get benefitted through this Scheme were being ignored even on this count.

What is the fun of MANREGA or other centrally sponsored schemes, when poor people are not benefitted through these, he questioned. He said there were many house-holds who have lost their houses due to fire incident sometime ago, but no compensation was paid to them, so far.

Houseless persons categorized under IAY (Indira Awas Youjana) have been provided half payment only for construction of their houses, the rest of the payment due to them has been stopped for the reasons known to the Govt and the concerned helmsmen, even the funds earmarked for IAY and AAY categories were being misappropriated to benefit blue eyed persons of ruling party, he added G.A. Mir lashed out at the State Administration for being insensitive to problems of poor and backward classes and urged that their ( peoples) concerns must be addressed on war footing basis, he also emphasized that Centrally Sponsored Schemes should not be used to benefit professional contractors or ruling party workers, these schemes must be implemented in a proper away and as per the guide lines, besides ensuring that poor classes are benefitted, G.A. Mir urged. G.A. Mir was accompanied by MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani, General Secretary Hilal Ahmad Shah, Ali Mohd Mantoo, Mohd Iqbal Ahanger, Peer Shahbaz, Mohd Iqbal Mir, G. M. Mir and others.
